The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
 bly, do enact as follows:

Section 1. The judiciary law is amended by adding a new section 511 to

exemption therefrom, a prospective juror who is seventy-two years of age
or older, shall be exempt from jury duty.
2. To claim exemption from jury duty pursuant to subdivision one of
this section, a senior citizen shall be required to submit a doctor's
note claiming physical health and/or mobility issues.

used therefor. Any qualified person may file such form with the appro-

person requests to be reinstated as a prospective juror in a form and
manner as promulgated by the chief administrator of the courts.
§ 2. This act shall take effect on the one hundred eightieth day after
it shall have become a law. Effective immediately, the addition, amend-
ment and/or repeal of any rule or regulation necessary for the implemen-
tation of this act on its effective date are authorized to be made and
completed on or before such effective date.
