BY REPRESENTATIVE ORGERON
A RESOLUTION
To commend the Louisiana energy industry and to recognize Wednesday, May 7, 2025, as
Industry Day at the state capitol.
WHEREAS, the workers, families, and businesses who make up Louisiana's energy
sector from companies like ExxonMobil, Shell, Chevron, and many more drive Louisiana's
economy forward and deliver American energy dominance; and
WHEREAS, Shell and ExxonMobil, two of the state's largest energy employers, are
celebrating Shell Day at the Capitol and ExxonMobil Day at the Capitol, showcasing their
legacy of innovation, investment, and commitment to Louisiana communities; and
WHEREAS, Louisiana's energy leaders continue to drive progress in energy
production, environmental stewardship, coastal restoration, and technological advancement,
reinforcing the state's vital role in securing the nation's energy future; and
WHEREAS, the energy industry directly and indirectly supports more than three
hundred forty-five thousand jobs in Louisiana, contributing over $70 billion to the state's
economy annually and helping to generate $4.5 billion in state and local taxes that support
schools, roads, and law enforcement; and
WHEREAS, the people of Louisiana deserve access to reliable, affordable, and
responsibly produced energy, emphasizing the importance of job creation and energy
development; and
WHEREAS, through strategic partnership with the energy industry, the abundant
natural resources of Louisiana can lift every community and support sustainable economic
growth across the state; and

WHEREAS, Industry Day is a celebration of the vital role that energy plays in the
state's workforce, education system, infrastructure, and long-term economic development,
and it offers an opportunity to recognize the critical contributions of energy workers,
engineers, manufacturers, and all Louisianians who help power not only Louisiana, but the
nation and the world.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Louisiana energy industry and does
hereby recognize Wednesday, May 7, 2025, as Industry Day at the state capitol.
