AgreedtobytheSenate,March6,2024
WHEREAS, Eagle Carpets, a flooring company serving the communities of Harrisonburg and the
Shenandoah Valley, celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2024; and

company's co-founder, Rodney Eagle, purchased a single roll of carpet on a whim while he was
assisting with the delivery of styrofoam egg cartons; and
WHEREAS, Rodney Eagle made return trips to Georgia, negotiated terms with carpet mills in
Cartersville and Dalton, rented warehouse space, and began selling and installing carpet in the
Harrisonburg area; and
WHEREAS, Eagle Carpets has grown from a single roll of carpet to a 16,000-square-foot storeroom
featuring carpet, hardwood, laminate, tile, luxury vinyl, and waterproof flooring options and area rugs;
and
WHEREAS, Eagle Carpets has supported the development of Harrisonburg over the past half-century
by providing and installing quality flooring products for its clients and has established its reputation as
one of the city's leading flooring companies; and
WHEREAS, Eagle Carpets has promoted a positive and supportive work place for its employees and
shown great care and compassion for their well-being; and
WHEREAS, following a devastating fire in 2003, many local businesses in Harrisonburg rallied to
aid Eagle Carpets in its recovery, a testament to the goodwill the company had acquired after decades of
serving the community; and
WHEREAS, the accomplishments of Eagle Carpets are the result of the vision and dedication of its
founders and owners, the tireless efforts of its employees, and the overwhelming support of its
customers and the Harrisonburg community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That Eagle Carpets hereby be commended on the occasion of
its 60th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for
