A senate RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR SKILLSUSA FOR ITS EFFORTS TO
ENSURE THAT AMERICA HAS A SKILLED WORKFORCE AND TO DECLARE FEBRUARY 2-8, 2025,
AS "SKILLSUSA WEEK" IN SOUTH CAROLINA.

Whereas, the South
Carolina Senate is deeply grateful for the work of SkillsUSA in partnership
with students, teachers, and industry to ensure a skilled workforce across
America; and

Whereas, a national
nonprofit educational association, SkillsUSA serves students in middle and high
schools and in college and post-secondary schools to help them each excel by
preparing them for careers in trade, technical, and skilled service
occupations, including health occupations; and

Whereas, SkillsUSA
serves more than three hundred thousand students and instructors annually,
including over twenty thousand instructors who join as professional members,
and with alumni, membership totals over four hundred thousand; and

Whereas, SkillsUSA has
served over thirteen million annual members cumulatively since 1965 and is
recognized by the United States Department of Education and the United States
Department of Labor as a successful model of employer-driven workforce
development; and

Whereas, celebrated in
February each year, SkillsUSA Week is a time for members to help raise
awareness of SkillsUSA and gives state associations, advisors, and student
members the opportunity to promote SkillsUSA programs and activities at the
local and state levels; and

Whereas, the South
Carolina Senate values the work of SkillsUSA to prepare a skilled workforce and
urges all South Carolinians to learn about this significant organization. Now,
therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, recognize and honor
SkillsUSA for its efforts to ensure that America has a skilled workforce and
declare February 2-8, 2025, as "SkillsUSA Week" in South Carolina.
