Senate Resolution 804

A RESOLUTION
Commending and congratulating Amiya Wright for being selected to compete in the Boys1
& Girls Club State Youth of the Year competition; and for other purposes.2
WHEREAS, the mission of the Boys & Girls Club is to save and change the lives of children3
and teens by providing a safe, positive, and engaging environment and running programs that4
prepare and inspire them to achieve great futures; and5
WHEREAS, for more than 70 years, the Boys & Girls Clubs of America's Youth of the Year6
program has honored and celebrated the nation's most inspiring youth and their incredible7
stories. Club members who earn the Youth of the Year title embody the values of good8
character and leadership, academic excellence, and healthy living; and9
WHEREAS, Amiya Wright is a member of Boys & Girls Clubs of the Chattahoochee Valley10
and a senior at George Washington Carver High School, where she is a part of the Student11
Council and a G.W. Tigerette; and12
WHEREAS, Boys & Girls Club has given Amiya the opportunity to attend the Future13
Physicians of America Conference in Boston as well as the National Leadership Academy14
in Denver, Colorado; and15
WHEREAS, this hard-working young woman has demonstrated outstanding integrity,16
honesty, and leadership and is a positive role model for young women throughout this state;17
and18
WHEREAS, the perseverance and determination displayed by this exceptional young leader19
set an example for all Georgians, and great success is surely in this young woman's future.20

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body21
commend and congratulate Amiya Wright for being selected to compete in the Boys & Girls22
Club State Youth of the Year competition.23
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed24
to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Amiya Wright.25
