RELATING TO LABOR AND LABOR RELATIONS -- POLICE ARBITRATION

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 28-9.2-13 of the General Laws in Chapter 28-9.2 entitled 1
"Municipal Police Arbitration" is hereby amended to read as follows: 2
28-9.2-13. Request for collective bargaining. 3
Whenever wages, rates of pay, or any other matter requiring appropriation of money by 4
any city or town are included as matter of collective bargaining conducted under the provisions of 5
this chapter, it is the obligation of the bargaining agent to serve written notice of request for 6
collective bargaining on the corporate authorities at least one hundred twenty (120) days before 7
the last day on which money can be appropriated by the city or town to cover the contract period 8
which is the subject of the collective bargaining procedure expiration of the collective bargaining 9
agreement. 10
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. 11

This act would change the last day upon which a bargaining agent for a municipal police 1
arbitration may make written request to the corporate authorities for collective bargaining from 2
one hundred twenty (120) days before the last day on which money can be appropriated by the 3
city or town to cover the contract period which is the subject of the collective bargaining 4
procedure, to one hundred twenty (120) days before the expiration of the current collective 5
bargaining agreement. 6
This act would take effect upon passage. 7
