A RESOLUTION to honor and congratulate the Upper
Cumberland 18U RAMS homeschool basketball
team on winning the NCHBC Division 5 National
Championship.

WHEREAS, it is fitting that this General Assembly should salute those student athletes
who, through their extraordinary efforts, have distinguished themselves as true champions of
whom we can all be proud; and
WHEREAS, the members of the Upper Cumberland 18U RAMS (Righteous And Mighty
Servants) homeschool basketball team have proven themselves to be the fiercest of
competitors and truly worthy of admiration by winning the NCHBC Division 5 National
Championship for the program's first Gold Ball; and
WHEREAS, in their opening game of the tourney, the RAMS defeated Tulsa (OK) 64-48
and then proceeded to roll over Milwaukee (WI) 64-32 in the second round; and
WHEREAS, in their third game, the RAMS trounced College Station (TX) 71-45 with five
players scoring in double digits; and
WHEREAS, the RAMS faced a disciplined Miami (OH) team in the quarterfinals but
prevailed 70-55; and
WHEREAS, facing their toughest test yet in the semifinals, Upper Cumberland met this
challenge by besting top-seeded Grand Rapids (MI) 44-33 to advance to the title tilt; and
WHEREAS, the RAMS conquered No. 2-seed Houston (TX) 47-33 in the championship
game to take the Gold Ball and hoist the National Championship banner; and
WHEREAS, the RAMS finished their storybook season with an excellent 26-11 record
and did not lose a game after the Christmas break; and

WHEREAS, the RAMS' superb performance would not have been possible without the
expert guidance of their coaches and the unfailing support of the players' families, their fans,
and the entire Upper Cumberland homeschool community; and
WHEREAS, the members of the Upper Cumberland RAMS epitomize all that is good in
today's student athletes, as they have achieved a premier level of success in competition while
exhibiting the highest degree of character in all aspects of life; and
WHEREAS, the perseverance, determination, work ethic, and talent of this group of
young men not only made possible a championship season but also surely bode well for their
future success; and
WHEREAS, the members of this General Assembly find it appropriate to acknowledge
and applaud the Upper Cumberland 18U RAMS for their outstanding season on the hardwood;
now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH
GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE HOUSE OF
REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING, that we honor and congratulate the players and coaches
of the Upper Cumberland 18U RAMS homeschool basketball team on winning the NCHBC
Division 5 National Championship and extend to them our best wishes for every continued
success in all their future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared
for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear
without House or Senate designation.
