1HOUSE RESOLUTION

2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 

3Representatives wish to congratulate the Lombard Garden Club 

4on the occasion of its 100th anniversary; and

5 WHEREAS, For a century, the Lombard Garden Club has helped 

6shape the beauty and character of the Lombard community since 

7its founding on May 28, 1926; and

8 WHEREAS, The Lombard Garden Club welcomes experienced and 

9budding gardeners to gain enjoyment and a sense of 

10accomplishment by connecting with other gardeners, staying 

11true to its main purpose of promoting an interest in gardening 

12while beautifying the Lombard landscape; and

13 WHEREAS, The Lombard Garden Club supports two butterfly 

14gardens in Lilacia Park, a native garden at the Sheldon Peck 

15Homestead, and gardens at Maple Street Chapel and Terrace View 

16Park; and

17 WHEREAS, The Lombard Garden Club is also known for its 

18Annual Lilac Sale, an event that has been held on the Thursday 

19prior to Mother's Day for more than 50 years, attracting 

20people from Lombard and the surrounding communities as well as 

21Michigan, Indiana, and Missouri; and

1 WHEREAS, The Lombard Garden Club further supports its 

2community through awarding scholarships to support Lombard 

3residents in pursuit of studies in horticulture and related 

4fields; and

5 WHEREAS, The Lombard Garden Club began commemorating its 

6100th birthday with the Centennial Celebration Luncheon for 

7members and their guests in April 2026, where 100 guests 

8attended a Roaring Twenties-themed gala, with many attendees 

9donning clothing reminiscent of that era; and

10 WHEREAS, The following month, the Lombard Garden Club 

1
