A
RESOLUTION

Celebrating
the 100th ANNIVERSARY of the historic route 66.

(TEXT OF BILL BEGINS ON NEXT PAGE)

Whereas, the roads and thoroughfares that became Route 66 began
as trading routes for the original inhabitants of the land, connecting peoples
from time immemorial; and

Whereas, 2026 marks the momentous centennial of the
establishment of U.S. Route 66, a highway that became an enduring symbol of
American freedom, adventure and connectivity; and

Whereas, Route 66 has been the Mother Road for generations of
Americans, immortalized in films, literature and songs; and

Whereas, Arizona is home to the longest continuously preserved
stretch of Historic Route 66, a testament to the dedication of its communities
in safeguarding this iconic roadway for future generations; and

Whereas, the rich history and cultural significance of Route
66, particularly within the diverse landscapes and welcoming communities of
Arizona, continue to attract travelers from around the world, contributing
significantly to the state's tourism and economy; and

Whereas, Arizonans and travelers from across the country and
the world should feel invited to Arizona to celebrate and explore the enduring
legacy of the Mother Road within our great state; and

Whereas, Route 66 has played a significant role in the history
and economic development of Arizona and its communities. Multiple properties
along this roadway are listed in the National Register of Historic Places,
attesting to the cultural, architectural and historical significance of these
properties within their communities as well as within this state and national
consciousness; and

Whereas, Arizona's portion of Route 66, with its iconic
landmarks, vibrant communities and colorful characters, continues to endure as
a beloved travel destination, promising an authentic journey into America's
past for current and future generations of adventurers and history enthusiasts
alike; and

Whereas, preservation of these historic resources is essential
to ensuring the promotion of Route 66 communities' shared heritage, vitality
and current and future economic growth.

Therefore

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
Arizona:

That the Members of the House of Representatives recognize the
100th anniversary of Route 66 and encourage Arizonans and visitors from across
the country and globe to participate in the centennial celebrations across
