A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Atlanta Metropolitan State College; and for other purposes.1
WHEREAS, Atlanta Metropolitan State College (AMSC), founded in 1974 as Atlanta Junior2
College, has been a cornerstone of higher education in the Atlanta metropolitan area for more3
than five decades; and4
WHEREAS, AMSC's growth and expansion over the years have exemplified its commitment5
to providing accessible higher education to diverse student populations, offering associate6
degrees, bachelor's degrees, and certificate programs across various fields of study; and7
WHEREAS, AMSC's transition to a four-year institution in 1998 and subsequent affiliation8
with the University System of Georgia in 2011 have further solidified its position as a9
leading educational institution dedicated to student success and academic excellence; and10
WHEREAS, AMSC's community engagement initiatives, including outreach programs,11
continuing education opportunities, and partnerships with local businesses and organizations,12
have made significant contributions to the economic development and cultural vibrancy of13
the Atlanta metropolitan area; and14

WHEREAS, throughout its history, AMSC has remained steadfast in its commitment to15
diversity, equity, and inclusion, providing support services and resources to ensure all16
students have the opportunity to achieve their educational goals.17
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that18
the members of this body recognize and commend Atlanta Metropolitan State College for19
its exemplary service to our community and its dedication to fostering a brighter future for20
generations to come.21
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized22
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to23
Atlanta Metropolitan State College.24
