HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 44
BY REPRESENTATIVE CARPENTER
A RESOLUTION
To commend the Southern University Laboratory School boys' basketball team on winning
the Louisiana High School Athletic Association 2022 Division IV state
championship.
WHEREAS, the Southern University Laboratory School boys' basketball team
captured its first state championship since 2005 by defeating Calvary Baptist, 57-54, in the
2022 Division IV state championship game at the Cajundome in Lafayette on March 5; and
WHEREAS, Southern Lab was led by senior forward Tyler Ringgold, who was
named Most Outstanding Player after scoring fifteen points and sinking the two free throws
that sealed the team's victory; senior guard Shane Forman gave his team energy throughout
the championship game, contributing two steals and a crucial late-game block; and
WHEREAS, in the semifinals game versus Hamilton Christian, Jonathan Butler
drained a game-winning three-point shot to get Southern Lab into the championship game;
and
WHEREAS, Southern Lab Head Coach Harold Boudreaux earned his first state
championship as a coach; this was made more special as the former Louisiana State
University player was selected as boys' Coach of the Year on the Louisiana Sports Writers
Association's Class 1A All-State team selected by a statewide panel of sportswriters; and
WHEREAS, the Southern Lab boys' basketball team is truly deserving of the highest
recognition for its incredible season.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Southern University Laboratory School
boys' basketball team on winning the Louisiana High School Athletic Association 2022

Division IV state championship and does hereby extend sincere wishes that all members of
the team continue to enjoy success and use this incredible accomplishment as motivation to
achieve even greater things as they continue on life's journey.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
principal of Southern University Laboratory School.
