1.1 A bill for an act​
1.2 relating to state government; requiring commemoration of the first Italian immigrant​
1.3 to Minnesota on the Capitol complex; appropriating money.​
1.4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:​
1.5 Section 1. PURPOSE.​
1.6 The purpose of this act is to recognize the contributions of Italian immigrants by requiring​
1.7 a commemorative work on the State Capitol grounds honoring the first recorded Italian​
1.8 immigrant to Minnesota.​
1.9 Sec. 2. COMMISSIONING AND INSTALLATION.​
1.10 The Capitol Area Architectural and Planning Board must conduct the commemorative​
1.11 works process pursuant to Minnesota Rules, part 2400.2703, and the commissioner of​
1.12 administration must install a commemorative work honoring the first recorded Italian​
1.13 immigrant to Minnesota. The Capitol Area Architectural and Planning Board must issue a​
1.14 public call for artists and solicit input from historians and Italian-American cultural​
1.15 organizations to guide the design process.​
1.16 Sec. 3. COMPLETION AND DEDICATION.​
1.17 The Capitol Area Architectural and Planning Board must complete the design and site​
1.18 selection phases by December 31, 2026, and the commissioner of administration must​
1.19 complete the installation phase by December 31, 2027. Upon completion, the Capitol Area​
1.20 Architectural and Planning Board must host an official dedication ceremony honoring Italian​
1.21 American contributions to Minnesota.​

2.7 appropriation is available until June 30, 2028.​
2.8 Sec. 5. EFFECTIVE DATE.​
2.9 This act is effective the day following final enactment.​
