A RESOLUTION
Commending D & J Plastics, Inc., on their expansive growth; and for other purposes.1
WHEREAS, D & J Plastics, Inc., was opened in 1997 by Dennis and Joyce Montgomery to2
meet the growing needs of the soft plastic lure industry; and3
WHEREAS, it began in a 3,700 square foot building with four molding machines, three4
employees working one shift, and two customers; its first year sales were $460,000.00; and5
WHEREAS, it has grown to 21 molding machines, four hard plastic molding machines, 956
total employees working three shifts, and employees working at home called homeworkers;7
and 8
WHEREAS, the plant produces 700,000 lures in 24 hours and uses over three million pounds9
of plastic per year; and 10
WHEREAS, D & J Plastics has grown to 64,000 square feet of manufacturing and storage11
space and has a manufacturing plant in Guatemala that is 14,000 square feet with 12012
employees who produce all the more labor intense products such as tubes, jigs, swimbaits,13
hooked, and rigged products; and14
WHEREAS, all items manufactured in Guatemala are shipped back to D & J Plastics, and15
all sales are made from this plant; and 16
WHEREAS, Big Bite Baits was started as an Internet company in 2001 and earned17
$30,000.00 in sales in the first year; and 18
WHEREAS, D & J Plastics ships soft plastic fishing lures all over the world and totaled19
$8 million in combined sales for 2014; and 20

WHEREAS, it possesses close business and financial relationships with Servis First Bank21
in Dothan, Alabama; Peoples Bank in Bremen, Georgia; River Valley and One Georgia; and22
the Quitman County Commission.23
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that24
the members of this body commend D & J Plastics, Inc., on their expansive growth and for25
their work as a great community partner. 26
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized27
and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to D & J28
Plastics, Inc.29
