 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 140

   

        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 

  

 recognize the Waco Chapter of A Girl and A Gun as its members 

  

 celebrate the 14th anniversary of the founding of the national 

  

 organization on February 28, 2025; and

  

  

        WHEREAS, A Girl and A Gun is a club with chapters across the 

  

 country and first hosted a conference in Waco in 2013; the Waco 

  

 Chapter was officially created in 2021; and

  

  

        WHEREAS, A Girl and A Gun's chapters host events that serve 

  

 as successful stepping stones for thousands of women entering the 

  

 shooting community by fostering their love of shooting through 

  

 guidance provided by caring and qualified instructors who coach 

  

 them; the Waco Chapter meets twice each month in order for its 

  

 members to enjoy shooting and fellowship; and

  

  

        WHEREAS, A Girl and A Gun breaks barriers for women and 

  

 girls in self-defense and in pistol, rifle, and shotgun shooting 

  

 sports by welcoming beginners to learn the basics of safe and 

  

 accurate shooting and by providing experienced shooters with 

  

 advanced-level opportunities; and

  

  

        WHEREAS, The Waco Chapter of A Girl and A Gun has been a 

  

 source of inspiration to countless women by offering firearms 

  

 education and camaraderie for its members, and it is indeed 

  

 fitting that the members of the Waco Chapter receive special 

  

 recognition for their efforts; now, therefore, be it

  

  

        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th 

  

 Legislature, hereby commend the Waco Chapter members of A Girl 

  

 and A Gun for their commitment to empowering women and promoting 

  

 firearms safety and proficiency and extend to all best wishes for 

  

 continued success; and, be it further

  

  

        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the 

  

 Waco Chapter as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
