nutritional and other program requirements relating to purchases of

To amend the Richard B. Russell National School Lunch
Act to improve nutritional and other program require-
ments relating to purchases of locally produced food.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-1
tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 2
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. 3
This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Kids Eat Local Act 4
of 2021’’. 5
SEC. 2. PURCHASES OF LOCALLY PRODUCED FOOD. 6
Section 9(j)(3) of the Richard B. Russell National 7
School Lunch Act (42 U.S.C. 1758(j)(3)) is amended— 8

(1) by striking ‘‘Program, to’’ and inserting the 1
following: ‘‘Program— 2
‘‘(A) to’’; 3
(2) in subparagraph (A) (as so designated), by 4
striking the period at the end and inserting ‘‘; or’’; 5
and 6
(3) by adding at the end the following: 7
‘‘(B) to use ‘locally grown’, ‘locally raised’, 8
or ‘locally caught’ as a product specification.’’. 9
