1HOUSE RESOLUTION

2 WHEREAS, E'Leric Donae Lyon was born to Latasha Cunningham 

3Taylor on April 19, 2001; the second born of four children, she 

4was cared for by her mother and her stepfather, Devonte 

5Taylor; and

6 WHEREAS, E'Leric Lyon was raised in Beach Park and 

7graduated from Zion-Benton Township High School, where she 

8participated in the Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps 

9(NJROTC); she also played the clarinet for more than 12 years; 

10and

11 WHEREAS, E'Leric Lyon led a career in security; in her 

12free time, she enjoyed making social media videos that often 

13went viral, and she loved doing her makeup, nails, and hair; 

14and

15 WHEREAS, E'Leric Lyon had a special connection with her 

16mother, calling her at the time of 11:11 to make a wish; she 

17was full of love and devotion, kind to everyone throughout her 

18life, a friend to all, and always in high spirits; and

19 WHEREAS, E'Leric Lyon was a vibrant, young woman with a 

20promising future ahead of her when she was murdered by her 

21partner on June 12, 2025; through her memory, her family hopes

1to help prevent other domestic violence homicides and provide 

2justice for victims' families; therefore, be it

3 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 

4HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 

5we declare November 11, 2025 as E'Leric Lyon Day in the State 

6of Illinois to celebrate the joy and love that E'Leric Donae 

7Lyon shared with those around her; and be it further

8 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 

9presented to the family of E'Leric Lyon as an expression of our 

10esteem and respect.
