COMMENDATIONS:  Commends His Holiness Pope Leo XIV for his faithful leadership
of the Catholic Church
1A RESOLUTION
2To commend His Holiness Pope Leo XIV for his faithful leadership of the Catholic Church.
3WHEREAS, His Holiness Pope Leo XIV has accepted the sacred responsibility of
4leading the Catholic Church with wisdom, humility, courage, and unwavering devotion to
5God and humanity; and
6WHEREAS, the Holy Father's commitment to peace, mercy, justice, compassion, and
7the dignity of every human person serves as a guiding light to nations and peoples across the
8globe; and
9WHEREAS, the state of Louisiana possesses a rich and enduring Catholic heritage
10deeply rooted in the faith traditions brought by French and Spanish settlers, and these
11traditions continue to shape the spiritual, cultural, and historic identity of our communities;
12and
13WHEREAS, from the historic parishes of South Louisiana to the sacred bells of
14St. Louis Cathedral in New Orleans, the Catholic faith has long inspired the people of
15Louisiana toward charity, perseverance, service, hospitality, and devotion to God; and
16WHEREAS, the citizens of Louisiana recognize and honor the Holy Father's
17dedication to the poor, the vulnerable, the suffering, and those seeking hope, reconciliation,
18and spiritual renewal in times of uncertainty; and
19WHEREAS, Louisianians stand united in prayer and goodwill with Catholics and
20people of faith around the world in celebration of the pontificate of Pope Leo XIV and in
21support of his sacred ministry; and

1WHEREAS, it is fitting to offer an expression of friendship, respect, admiration, and
2spiritual solidarity between the people of Louisiana and the Holy See.
3THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
4Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend His Holiness Pope Leo XIV for his faithful
5leadership of the Catholic Church; does hereby extend wishes for strength, wisdom, health,
6and divine guidance for his pontificate and pastoral mission; and does hereby affirm an
7enduring commitment to faith, compassion, human dignity, peace among nations, and
8service to one another.
