________

A concurrent RESOLUTION

TO CELEBRATE THE RICH CULTURAL HERITAGE, HISTORY,
AND ENDURING CONTRIBUTIONS OF CAMBODIAN AMERICANS AND TO DECLARE APRIL 2026
CAMBODIAN HERITAGE MONTH IN THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA.

Whereas, the members of
the South Carolina General Assembly appreciate the rich cultural heritage,
history, and enduring contributions of Cambodian Americans who have helped
shape and strengthen the communities in our Great State; and

Whereas, many Cambodian
families came to the United States seeking refuge and opportunity, carrying
with them deep-rooted faith, resilience, and determination to rebuild their
lives while preserving their cultural identity; and

Whereas, faith has
played a central role in the Cambodian American experience, serving as a source
of strength, healing, and unity across generations; and

Whereas, spiritual
institutions such as Wat Sao Sakh San Khmer Buddhist Temple in Wellford, the
Spartanburg Buddhist Center of South Carolina in Spartanburg, and the Cambodian
Baptist Church in Wellford stand as pillars of faith, compassion, and community;
and

Whereas, the Cambodian
Association of South Carolina, in partnership with Generations for America, is
committed to building bridges between cultures and generations, fostering
unity, encouraging civic engagement, and empowering future leaders; and

Whereas, these efforts
reflect the shared values of faith, service, and community that strengthen the
bonds uniting all South Carolinians. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House
of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the
South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, celebrate the rich
cultural heritage, history, and enduring contributions of Cambodian Americans
and declare April 2026 Cambodian Heritage Month in the State of South Carolina.
