BY: Senator WEBB

COMMEMORATING the 10th Anniversary of the Broome
 County Regional Farmers Market

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize the
achievements of those individuals and businesses that contribute
substantially to the economic vitality of their communities, thereby
enhancing the economic well-being of the entire Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 10th Anniversary of the Broome County Regional Farmers
Market; and

WHEREAS, In 2016, the Broome County Regional Farmers Market was
established through Cornell Cooperative Extension of Broome County as a
regional hub for locally grown and produced food in the Greater
Binghamton area; and

WHEREAS, Now entering its 10th season, the Market connects residents
with farmers, food-based businesses, and agricultural producers from
across the region, strengthening local food systems and the regional
agricultural economy; and

WHEREAS, The Market participates in nutrition incentive programs,
providing access to locally grown food for income-eligible shoppers
throughout Broome County; many of the Market's food-based businesses are
supported by Cornell Cooperative Extension's Incubator Kitchen which
provides local food entrepreneurs with a licensed facility to produce
the goods they contribute; and

WHEREAS, Mindful of wastefulness, at the close of each market day,
participating vendors donate unsold products to Binghamton Food Rescue,
ensuring that fresh food reaches community members in need; and

WHEREAS, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Broome County manages the
Market's operations and connects this integral part of the community to
broader food systems programming, including Grown in Broome and
agricultural education initiatives; and

WHEREAS, It is with immense pride that the hard-working and
dedicated members of the Broome County Regional Farmers Market celebrate
this milestone 10th Anniversary and anticipate continued success; now,
therefore, be it

Market; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
