RELATING TO EDUCATION -- THE EDUCATION EQUITY AND PROPERTY TAX 
RELIEF ACT

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: 
SECTION 1.  Chapter  16-7.2  of  the  General  Laws  entitled  "The  Education Equity  and 1 
Property Tax Relief Act" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section: 2 
16-7.2-5.1. Cumberland -- Limitations on enrollments.     3 
The Cumberland town council (the "council") may adopt maximum limits on the number 4 
of students from the Cumberland school district permitted to enroll in a charter public school as 5 
defined  by  § 16-77-2.1,  by  individual  school  or  collectively.  If  enrollment  exceeds  the  limits 6 
adopted  by  the  council  pursuant  to  this  section,  the  council  may  prohibit  the enrollment  of 7 
additional  district  students  in  the  charter  public  school,  until  the  number  of  resident  district 8 
students enrolled in said school declines below the adopted limit. 9 
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. 10
