1HOUSE RESOLUTION

2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 

3Representatives wish to congratulate Lucy Prouty on the 

4occasion of her retirement and thank her for her service to the 

5citizens of Ela Township; and

6 WHEREAS, Lucy Prouty served as Ela Township Trustee for 

7two terms from 1993 to 2001, Ela Township Clerk for one term 

8from 2001 to 2005, Ela Township Supervisor for three terms 

9from 2005 to 2017, and as Ela Township Clerk for an additional 

10two terms from 2017 to 2025; and

11 WHEREAS, Lucy Prouty served on the Township Officials of 

12Illinois Board of Directors from 2011 to 2015 and 2021 to 2022; 

13she has also served on the State Board of Supervisors, the Lake 

14Zurich Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, and the 

15panel for the Lake Zurich Chamber's Young Entrepreneurs 

16Academy program; and

17 WHEREAS, Lucy Prouty's vision included enhancing senior 

18programming by purchasing the old Lake Zurich post office and 

19converting it to a community center for both 55 and older and 

20youth programs; she also helped save funds to purchase land 

21and build the new town hall without a loan and relocated it 

22from Ela Township highway's garage; and

1 WHEREAS, Lucy Prouty was voted the Public Servant of the 

2Year by the Lake Zurich Area Chamber of Commerce in 2005 and 

3named the Supervisor of the Year by the Illinois Township 

4Association of Senior Citizen Services Committee (ITASCSC) in 

52014; in gratitude for her public service to the Ela Township, 

6the Ela Town Hall east entrance has been designated "The 

7Honorable Lucy Prouty Way"; and

8 WHEREAS, Lucy Prouty lives in Lake Zurich with her
