R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS,A fullandgenerouslifedrewto a closewiththe
passingof LeonardF. LaNoueof Houstonon March28, 2020,at the
age of 94; and
WHEREAS,Bornon April13, 1925,LeonardLaNouegrewup with
threesisters,Lorraine,Marjorie,andMarie,in  Kankakee,
Illinois,duringthe GreatDepression;answeringhis nation
’s call
to duty,he servedas a memberof the U.S.58thNavalConstruction
Battalionin the PacifictheaterduringWorldWar II; and
WHEREAS,Afterreturninghometo Kankakee,Mr.
ALaNouemet and
marriedhis firstwife,Veronica,and overthe courseof morethan
fourdecadestogether,theyraisedherdaughter,Sheila,andtwo
childrenof theirown,Micheleand Marc;afterthatmarriageended,
he wed PaulinaDel Rio,and theysharedmanyworldtravelsin the
courseof a rewardingunionthatspanned20 yearsuntilher passing;
and
WHEREAS,Mr.
ALaNouebeganhis careeras a salesmanwiththe
DoALLCompany,wherehe quicklyrosethroughthe ranksto serveas
presidentof DoALLManufacturingin Minneapolis;alongtheway,
whileworkingfull-time,he earnedan MBAfromtheUniversityof
Chicago;he movedto Houstonfollowinghis retirementand founded
two successfulbusinesses,MetalCuttingSpecialistsand Abrasive
WaterJets;nearly25 yearslater,he soldhiscompaniesand
assistedhisdaughterandson-in-lawin addingmanufacturingto
theirown business;and

WHEREAS,Admiredforhischarmingpersonality,strongwork
ethic,andpositiveattitude,LeonardLaNouewasa sourceof
inspirationto all who knewhim,and he leavesbehinda recordof
servicethathislovedonescanrememberwithpride;now,
therefore,be it
RESOLVED,Thatthe Houseof Representativesof the 87thTexas
Legislatureherebypay tributeto the memoryof LeonardF.
ALaNoue
and extendsincerecondolencesto the membersof his family:to his
daughter,Michele;to his son-in-law,Gerald;to his granddaughter,
Nathalie;to  hisbrother-in-law,Ernie;to  hisstepdaughter,
Sheila;andto hismanyotherrelativesandfriends;and,be it
further
RESOLVED,Thatan  officialcopyof  thisresolutionbe
preparedforhisfamilyandthatwhentheTexasHouseof
Representativesadjournsthisday,it do so in memoryof Leonard
LaNoue.
