WHEREAS,foundedin1982bytheFirstPresbyterianChurchofLynchburg,LynchburgDailyBread
hassincebecomeanindependent501(c)(3)organizationtocarryoutitsmission;and
WHEREAS,locatedinitiallyatthehistoricNichol'sTavernindowntownLynchburg,Lynchburg
DailyBreadmovedin1983toa  buildingonParkAvenueownedbytheSalvationArmyandsixyears
latertookuppermanentresidenceattheformerKnightsofColumbusbuildingatEighthandClay
Streets;and
WHEREAS,LynchburgDailyBreadcontinuestooperateoutofitscommercialkitchenindowntown
Lynchburgandsince2013hasregularlydistributedfoodatseveraloutreachsitesthroughoutthe
community;and
WHEREAS,LynchburgDailyBreadserved115,478mealsin2020and133,259mealsin2021,the
mostfora  givenyearintheorganization'shistory,andiscurrentlyservingmorethan12,000mealsper
month;and
WHEREAS,LynchburgDailyBreadissupportedbythetirelessandcompassionateeffortsofits
volunteers,whocollectivelydonateapproximately10,000hourstotheorganizationeveryyear;and
WHEREAS,theaccomplishmentsofLynchburgDailyBreadaremadepossiblethroughthegenerous
donationsitreceivesfromlocalgrocerystores,colleges,andrestaurants,whichaccountfornearlythe
entiretyoftheapproximately800poundsoffoodtheorganizationserveseachday;and
WHEREAS,LynchburgDailyBreadhasbenefitedfrommajorrenovationsovertheyearsthatwere
fundedbyitscommunitypartners,includingColumbiaGasofVirginia,SouthernAir,theLynchburg
RotaryClub,andSt.John'sEpiscopalChurchofLynchburg;and
WHEREAS,LynchburgDailyBreadhasremainedopenthroughouttheCOVID-19pandemic,
adaptingtotheunprecedentedchallengesbyserving"to-go"mealstominimizecontactandkeepits
serversandpatronssafe;and
WHEREAS,byprovidingareliablelifelinetovulnerablemembersoftheGreaterLynchburg
community,LynchburgDailyBreadhasembodiedthevaluesandidealsthatcitizensofthe
Commonwealthholdmostdear;now,therefore,beit
RESOLVEDbytheHouseofDelegates,theSenateconcurring,ThattheGeneralAssemblyhereby
commendLynchburgDailyBread,Inc.,ontheoccasionofits40thanniversary;and,beit
RESOLVEDFURTHER,ThattheClerkoftheHouseofDelegatespreparea  copyofthisresolution
forpresentationtoLynchburgDailyBread,Inc.,asanexpressionoftheGeneralAssembly'sadmiration
fortheorganization'scontributionstotheCommonwealth.
