Kenneth Preston upon the occasion of hisHONORING
designation for special recognition after 55 years
of dedicated service to the North Greece Fire
Department
Citizens across our State and Nation are inspired by andWHEREAS,
indebted to our noble volunteer firefighters who exhibit courage and
bravery every day in the course of their duties; and
Volunteer firefighters exemplify the power of humanWHEREAS,
compassion and the strength of the American spirit through actions of
the most heroic magnitude; their sacrifices and their selfless
dedication merit tribute and recognition by all citizens of this great
country; and
This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor KennethWHEREAS,
Preston upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition
after 55 years of dedicated service to the North Greece Fire Department,
to be celebrated at its Banquet on Saturday, April 22, 2017; and
Located in Monroe County, the North Greece Fire DepartmentWHEREAS,
was established in 1922, and provides fire and emergency medical
services to more than 25,000 residents; Kenneth Preston is one of only
two members to achieve the level of 55 years active service in the
department's history; and
Throughout his illustrious tenure with the North GreeceWHEREAS,
Fire Department, Kenneth Preston has served on the Board of Directors
and as Department President for four years; in addition, he was on the
Board of Fire Commissioners for more than three decades; and
Kenneth Preston continues to be extremely active in theWHEREAS,
department by responding to emergencies, Fire Police duties, drills,
meetings and all fire department functions; and
Firefighters unwaveringly serve our great State with pride,WHEREAS,
valor, and integrity; these respected volunteers are often the first to
respond to an emergency, whether the emergency is a fire, transportation
accident, natural disaster, act of terrorism, medical crisis, or spill
of hazardous materials; and
It takes a special dedication, a strong desire to helpWHEREAS,
others and a tireless sense of community to forsake precious time with
family and friends to respond to the signal that a neighbor is in need;
Kenneth Preston is such a firefighter; throughout 55 years of devoted
service, this volunteer heroically performed, above and beyond the call
of duty, those responsibilities which define the task of fire
protection; now, therefore, be it
That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations toRESOLVED,

honor Kenneth Preston upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition after 55 years of dedicated service to the North Greece Fire
Department; and be it further
That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, beRESOLVED,
transmitted to Kenneth Preston.
