A house RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR COURTNEY A. TKACS OF
LEXINGTON COUNTY AND TO CONGRATULATE HER FOR BEING ELECTED PRESIDENT OF THE
STUDENT BODY OF THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA.

Whereas, the members of
the South Carolina House of Representatives are pleased to learn that Courtney
Tkacs has been elected president of the University of South Carolina student
body for the 2025-2026 school year; and

Whereas, the daughter of
Bryan and Melissa Tkacs, and brother of Kody Tkacs, Courtney is a rising senior
in the South Carolina Honors College, where she is double-majoring in public
health and political science, with aspirations to attend law school; and

Whereas, Courtney grew up
in a military family and lived various places around the world before her
family settled in Lexington. In 2022 she graduated from River Bluff High
School, where her activities included the 2022 "We the People" state
competition-winning team, National Honor Society, Student Council, varsity
track and field, and cross country teams, among others; and

Whereas, at USC, Courtney
has thrived academically while also serving as vice president of the student
body, Speaker of the Student Senate Chief of Staff, and member of Alpha Delta
Pi sorority, Phi Delta Phi prelaw fraternity, Student Life Ambassador, Freshman
Council, and Hacky Sack Club; and

Whereas, Courtney's
interest in student government stems from her belief that an important part of
campus health is having a strong community, which she found in her student
organization involvement.

Student government service also has enabled Courtney
to better her community, something she is inspired to do by her father's
example and the servant's heart she inherited from him; and

Whereas, as the president
of the USC student body, Courtney plans to advocate for all students by
prioritizing quality academics and advising, providing safe spaces, and maximizing
the student experience. She also plans to promote student awareness of
available resources and student government initiatives; and

Whereas, in addition to
her other commitments, Courtney has become a familiar face at the State House
over the past three years while she has served as a page and an intern in the
research department at Legislative Council, where she has provided outstanding
service to the General Assembly; and

Whereas, the South
Carolina House of Representatives appreciates the significant work facing
Courtney Tkacs as USC student body president, wish her every success as she
embraces the challenges of the role in the coming year, and look forward to
hearing of her further achievements in the years to come. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of
Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor Courtney A. Tkacs of
Lexington County and congratulate her for being elected president of the
student body of the University of South Carolina.
