1SENATE RESOLUTION

2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened 

3to learn of the death of Robert A. "Bob" Iverson of Danville, 

4who passed away on May 22, 2025; and

5 WHEREAS, Bob Iverson was born in Chicago to John and Mary 

6Mercedes (Caslin) Iverson on August 4, 1950 and raised in 

7Glenview; he graduated from Our Lady of Perpetual Help School, 

8Glenbrook South High School, and Southern Illinois University; 

9he married Judith Mehalic in Streator on August 12, 1972; and

10 WHEREAS, Bob Iverson worked as a newspaper reporter, 

11spokesperson for his school district, administrative assistant 

12to the superintendent for District 118, communication 

13coordinator for the Danville medical center, and 

14communications coordinator for the Illinois Sustainable 

15Technology Center at the University of Illinois; he also spent 

16many years as a news reporter for WITY radio; he retired from 

17the University of Illinois; and

18 WHEREAS, Bob Iverson was elected in two different Danville 

19wards at different times, in 1987 and again in 2019; he served 

20as vice mayor for the Danville City Council for a time, and 

21most recently, served as alderman for Ward 7; and

1 WHEREAS, Bob Iverson was an active member of First 

2Presbyterian Church in Danville for 30 years, where he served 

3as a church elder and on numerous committees and groups and was 

4instrumental in it being the only church in the State to win 

5the Illinois Sustainability Award; he was active in past years 

6with the Kiwanis, the Alzheimer's Alliance, the Palmer Arena 

7Board, and other local organizations; he was an avid fan of the 

8Chicago Cubs and White Sox,
