SENATE BILL 1135

AN ACT TO ALLOW THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO USE THE
DESIGN-BUILD METHOD OF CONTRACTING FOR THE MULTILANING OF
US HIGHWAY 601 FROM THE SOUTH CAROLINA STATE LINE TO US
HIGHWAY 74 IN UNION COUNTY.

Whereas, the segment of US Highway 601 from the South Carolina State line
to US Highway 74 in Union County is one of the most hazardous in the State, with

Whereas, using the design-build method can speed up the multilaning of this
segment by several years, as well as saving money; and
Whereas, the Department of Transportation is currently limited in the number
of design-build contracts it can award; Now, therefore,
