A house RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE Heathwood Hall Episcopal
School boys track and field TEAM, COACHES, AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS FOR AN
OUTSTANDING SEASON AND TO CONGRATULATE THEM FOR WINNING THE 2025 SOUTH CAROLINA
Independent School Association Division 1 STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.

Whereas, the South
Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that the members of the
Heathwood Hall boys track and field team of Richland County captured the South
Carolina Independent School Association Division 1 State Championship title at
the state meet held at Ben Lippen in Columbia on May 5, 2025; and

Whereas, to the delight
of their exuberant fans, the Heathwood Highlanders defeated a fine, competitive
field of teams with a score of 129, defeating their nearest opponent, Porter-Gaud,
by forty points; and

Whereas, the state
meet, which began on Saturday, was interrupted due to a weather delay, and was
completed on Monday with the Highlanders winning the championship; and

Whereas, Highlander
Jack Wilcox won the 800m and 1,600m and came in second in the 3,200m. Teammate Edgar
Jackson was second in the shot put, and Onis Konanbanny took second place in
long jump. The Heathwood 4x400 relay team came in second; and

Whereas, in a sport
that requires strength, speed and stamina, Head Coach Tony Brown and his skilled
coaching staff capitalized on their own athletic experience and training to
produce a championship-caliber team and teach these athletes life principles
that will endure beyond the track and field; and

Whereas, the members of
the South Carolina House of Representatives appreciate the pride and
recognition that the Heathwood boys track and field team have brought to their
school and their community, and the members look forward to following their
future success in the days ahead. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House
of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize
and honor the Heathwood Hall Episcopal School boys track and field team,
coaches, and school officials for an outstanding season and congratulate them
for winning the 2025 South Carolina Independent School Association Division 1 State
Championship title.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this
resolution be presented to Head of Upper School George Scouten and Coach Tony
Brown.
