1HOUSE RESOLUTION

2 WHEREAS, The people of Syria have long endured tremendous 

3hardship, suffering under the oppressive rule of Bashar 

4al-Assad, whose regime has committed grave human rights 

5violations, suppressed political freedoms, and inflicted 

6immense destruction upon the country; and

7 WHEREAS, The Syrian people have demonstrated extraordinary 

8resilience, courage, and determination in their struggle for 

9freedom, dignity, and self-determination; and

10 WHEREAS, After years of struggle, the people of Syria have 

11achieved a historic victory with the liberation of their 

12nation and the fall of the Assad dictatorship; and

13 WHEREAS, This victory represents a new chapter in Syria's 

14history, paving the way for a future built on democracy, 

15justice, and the rule of law, where the rights and aspirations 

16of all Syrians are respected and protected; and

17 WHEREAS, The Syrian diaspora, including many Syrian 

18Americans, has played an essential role in advocating for 

19justice, supporting humanitarian efforts, and keeping the hope 

20of a free Syria alive; and

1 WHEREAS, The international community, including the United 

2States, must continue to support the Syrian people in their 

3transition toward a stable and democratic government, ensuring 

4accountability for past crimes and aiding in the 

5reconstruction of the nation; therefore, be it

6 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 

7HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 

8we congratulate the people of Syria on their liberation and 

9the fall of the dictatorship of Bashar al-Assad; and be it
