SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION 196

A RESOLUTION to honor and recognize Andrea Mann, 2017
Valedictorian of Northeast High School.
WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this General Assembly should pause to pay
tribute to those students who, through their natural talents and unflagging commitment to
academic excellence, have distinguished themselves in the classroom; and
WHEREAS, Andrea Mann is one such exceptional student who was recently named
Valedictorian of the 2017 graduating class at Northeast High School; and
WHEREAS, through diligent study, steady composure during examinations, and
steadfast commitment of time and talent, Andrea Mann has achieved outstanding academic
success and joined the ranks of the best and brightest students in Tennessee and our country;
and
WHEREAS, in her remarkable high school career, Ms. Mann has earned an exemplary
4.0 grade point average while participating in a variety of extracurricular activities; and
WHEREAS, a leader in her school, Ms. Mann serves as treasurer of Beta Club, senior
representative of the National Honor Society, and co-captain of the Lady Eagles varsity
volleyball team; and
WHEREAS, an avid swimmer, Andrea Mann is co-captain of the Thunderbolt Swim
Team; since 2015, she has been a lifeguard and swim instructor for Clarksville Parks and
Recreation; and
WHEREAS, active in her community, Ms. Mann assists younger swimmers and their
coaches at swim meets and volunteers at the Clarksville/Montgomery County Animal Shelter;
and
WHEREAS, Andrea Mann's display of intellectual aptitude and ambition surely bodes
well for her future success as a student at the University of Tennessee; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Mann's noteworthy achievement is a tremendous source of pride for her
family, her school, and her community; and
WHEREAS, Andrea Mann's dedication to excellence is clearly deserving of the respect,
admiration, and commendation of the members of this General Assembly; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED TENTH GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
CONCURRING, that we hereby commend and honor the 2017 Northeast High School
Valedictorian, Andrea Mann, on her impressive academic achievement and extend to her our
best wishes for a happy, successful future.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared
for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy.
