AN ACT TO ESTABLISH A NEW SALARY SCHEDULE FOR CERTIFIED 2
PERSONNEL OF THE NORTH CAROLINA PUBLIC SCHOOLS. 3
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts: 4
SECTION 1.(a) Effective July 1, 2007, the following salary schedule shall 5
be applicable to certified personnel of the public schools who are classified as "A" and 6
"M" teachers: 7

SECTION 1.(b) For the 2007-2008 school year, each employee shall be 1
placed on the appropriate salary schedule on the basis of years of experience as follows: 2

No employee's salary shall be reduced as a result of placement on the appropriate salary 22
schedule and no employee shall receive less than a one thousand dollar ($1,000) salary 23
increase as a result of placement on the appropriate salary schedule for the 2007-2008 24
school year. 25
SECTION 1.(c) Beginning with the 2008-2009 school year, employees shall 26
receive annual increments of one step on the appropriate salary schedule for each year 27
of employment. 28
SECTION 1.(d) Enactment of this salary schedule shall not be construed to 29
diminish or rescind additions to salary amounts provided by law for an employee's 30
possession of an advanced certificate, earned doctorate degree, or National Board for 31
Professional Teaching Standards certification; nor shall enactment of this salary 32
schedule be construed to diminish or rescind rights or benefits conferred upon teachers 33
by law, other than those which expressly refer to salary matters. 34
SECTION 1.(e) The State Board of Education shall adopt rules and 35
regulations necessary to implement this section. 36
SECTION 2. This act becomes effective July 1, 2007. 37
