1SENATE RESOLUTION

2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened 

3to learn of the death of Robert Eugene "Bob" Leistner of 

4Springfield, who passed on November 18, 2025; and

5 WHEREAS, Bob Leistner was born to Elmer William and Emma 

6Louise Leistner in Springfield on January 6, 1938; he 

7graduated from Springfield High School in 1956 and attended 

8Vanderbilt University; he graduated from MacMurray College in 

91960 with a Bachelor of Science in Business and Economics; he 

10played basketball at both institutions and was affectionately 

11known as "Tall #54"; he married Rosemary Leach on June 24, 

121961; and

13 WHEREAS, Bob Leistner joined M.J. Kellner Company in June 

141960, retiring in 1988 after 28 years of service, including 

15the last 16 years as general manager; and

16 WHEREAS, Bob Leistner focused on community service during 

17his retirement; he served as president of Contact Ministries 

18and served on numerous other boards, including the Boys and 

19Girls Club of Springfield, First State Bank (1984-1988), 

20Springfield Mass Transit District (1989-1999) where he served 

21four years as board chairman, and Security Bank Board 

22(1994-2003) where he served three years as building project

1manager; and

2 WHEREAS, Bob Leistner's favorite sport was golf, and he 

3was a longtime member of the Illini Country Club, where he 

4served as past president and was a Illini golf club champion; 

5he also earned the rare achievement of making four 

6holes-in-one; he was past chairman and two-time champion of 

7the Central Illinois Senior Golf Association Tournament; and

8 WHEREAS, Bob Leistner was past president of the Ma
