AN ACT concerning the budget message to be transmitted by the 1
Governor to the Legislature for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2
2023. 3

BE IT ENACTED by the Senate and General Assembly of the State 5
of New Jersey: 6

1. Notwithstanding the provisions of any other law to the 8
contrary, the Governor shall transmit the budget message for the 9
fiscal year ending June 30, 2023 to the Legislature on or before 10
March 8, 2022. 11

2. This act shall take effect immediately. 13

This bill extends the date by which the Governor’s Fiscal Year 18
2023 budget message is to be transmitted to the Legislature, from 19
the fourth Tuesday in February to Tuesday, March 8, 2022. Current 20
law provides that the budget message is to be transmitted on or 21
before the fourth Tuesday in February. Similar extensions have 22
been provided in the past for the budgets of other Governors. 23
