A RESOLUTION to congratulate Dyer County Schools on being
named a 2022-2023 Exemplary School District.

WHEREAS, it is fitting that we pay tribute to those public school districts in Tennessee
that, through their unflagging commitment to academic excellence, have achieved significant
milestones; and
WHEREAS, one such school district is Dyer County Schools, which was named a 2022-
2023 Exemplary School District by the Tennessee Department of Education for significantly
improving student performance and narrowing achievement gaps; and
WHEREAS, under Tennessee's current accountability system, Exemplary School
Districts are those school systems that have demonstrated success in raising proficiency levels,
narrowing achievement gaps, and guaranteeing growth for all students by meeting targets set
by the State; and
WHEREAS, Dyer County Schools is one of only a select number of school systems
chosen for this prestigious honor from among the public school districts in Tennessee; the
system's selection as an Exemplary School District is a tremendous source of pride for the
board of education, administration, teachers, students, and parents; and
WHEREAS, Dyer County Schools enjoys the leadership of Cheryl Mathis, Director of
Schools, and the distinguished service of an exceptional school board; and
WHEREAS, the dedication to academic excellence demonstrated by all the fine
individuals affiliated with Dyer County Schools is clearly deserving of our respect, admiration,
and commendation; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED
THIRTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE

CONCURRING, that we recognize and congratulate Dyer County Schools on being named a
2022-2023 Exemplary School District, salute the district's board of education, administration,
faculty, staff, students, and parents on receiving this esteemed honor, and extend to them our
best wishes for continued success in the future.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared
for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear
without House or Senate designation.
