1HOUSE RESOLUTION

2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 

3Representatives wish to commend Aman Yohannes, a student at 

4Loyola Academy, for distinguishing himself through sustained 

5excellence in academics, extracurricular activities, and civic 

6engagement; and

7 WHEREAS, Aman Yohannes is a dynamic youth leader in the 

8Uptown neighborhood of Chicago's 46th Ward who immigrated to 

9the United States from Ethiopia at a young age, bringing a 

10global perspective that informs his leadership and engagement 

11in civic and international issues; and

12 WHEREAS, While attending Loyola Academy, Aman Yohannes has 

13been deeply involved in a wide range of meaningful activities, 

14including Ambassadors, Debate, Hope Squad, Model United 

15Nations, Politics Club, Scholastic Bowl, Youth Civic Union, 

16and student newspaper The Prep, demonstrating both breadth and 

17depth of engagement; and

18 WHEREAS, Aman Yohannes has demonstrated exceptional 

19achievement in Model United Nations, earning repeated 

20recognition as an Outstanding Delegate at conferences and 

21contributing to the success and development of fellow 

22participants through mentorship and research support; and

1 WHEREAS, Aman Yohannes has served as president of the 

2Politics Club, where he has led substantive discussions on 

3topics ranging from local elections to international affairs 

4by incorporating multiple news sources and perspectives, 

5fostering thoughtful dialogue, encouraging broad student 

6participation in civic discourse, and helping peers critically 

7analyze current events and engage in informed, respectful 

8debate; and
