SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

20 ILCS 405/405-126 new

 Amends the Department of Central Management Services Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Requires the Department of Central Management Services to ensure that, for all job titles and for all State employment, positions that require a college degree or in which a college degree is preferred shall allow for the acceptance of a community college certificate as equal to a college degree, if appropriate in the determination of the Department. Allows the Department to adopt rules.

1 AN ACT concerning State government.

2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 

3represented in the General Assembly:

4 Section 5. The Department of Central Management Services 

5Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois is amended by 

6adding Section 405-126 as follows:

7 (20 ILCS 405/405-126 new)

8 Sec. 405-126. Community college certificate acceptable. 

9The Department of Central Management Services shall ensure 

10that, for all job titles and for all State employment, 

11positions that require a college degree or in which a college 

12degree is preferred shall allow for the acceptance of a 

13community college certificate as equal to a college degree, if 

14appropriate in the determination of the Department. The 

15Department may adopt rules to implement this Section.
