Commending the Ocean View Business Association.

WHEREAS, for more than 40 years, the Ocean View Business Association has supported and
empowered local businesses in the Ocean View area of Norfolk; and
WHEREAS, originally known as the Ocean View Merchant Association, the Ocean View Business
Association was established in 1983 and adopted its current name in 2012; and
WHEREAS, the Ocean View Business Association is committed to fostering an environment where
businesses not only survive but thrive and serves as a catalyst for local economic growth; and
WHEREAS, the Ocean View Business Association promotes local enterprises and offers invaluable
mentorship programs to new business owners, while facilitating networking opportunities for existing
businesses that forge lasting connections; and
WHEREAS, the Ocean View Business Association has helped create a spirit of innovation and a
passion for entrepreneurship in the Ocean View area that serves visitors and local residents alike; and
WHEREAS, the Ocean View Business Association brings in guest speakers to educate local business
leaders about city processes, business support opportunities, and outreach to nonprofit organizations; and
WHEREAS, during 2023, the Ocean View Business Association had 70 members, donated more than
$2,000 to local charitable organizations, and participated in the inaugural Ocean View Mermaid Festival;
and
WHEREAS, the Ocean View Business Association has played an integral role in shaping a
prosperous and dynamic future for the Ocean View community and looks forward to expanding its
network of businesses, as well as its community outreach programs; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Ocean View Business Association hereby be
commended for its work to help businesses in the Ocean View area of Norfolk thrive on the occasion of
its 40th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution
for presentation to the Ocean View Business Association as an expression of the House of Delegates'
admiration for the organization's contributions to the vibrant local economy in Norfolk.
