 Assembly Bill

No. 1477

Introduced by Assembly Member Sharp-Collins

February 21, 2025

An act to amend Section 12096.2 12096.6.6 of the Government Code, relating to state government.

LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST

AB 1477, as amended, Sharp-Collins.
Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development Development: California Competes Grant Program.

Existing law establishes the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development, also known as “GO-Biz,” to, among other duties, serve the Governor as the lead entity for economic strategy and the marketing of California on issues relating to business development, private sector investment, and economic growth.

This bill would make a nonsubstantive change to the provision establishing the office.

Existing law, until January 1, 2030, and upon appropriation by the Legislature, creates the California Competes Grant Program, which, among other things, authorizes the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development to provide
grants to an applicant that meets specified criteria relating to the creation of jobs or investments in the state.

This bill would extend the operation of these provisions until January 1, 2031.
