A senate RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR Jeremy Clements for his
success as a NASCAR driver and to commend him for his storied career in Racing.

Whereas, the members of
the South Carolina Senate are pleased to recognize Jeremy Clements for his
success as a NASCAR driver; and

Whereas, a native of Spartanburg,
Jeremy was born on January 16, 1985. He is the grandson of Crawford Clements, a
famed NASCAR owner and renowned engine builder, and the son of Tony Clements,
owner of Jeremy Clements Racing and operator of Clements Automotive, a company
started by Crawford in 1965; and

Whereas, introduced to
racing by his grandfather, Jeremy began his racing career at the age of seven
in go-karts where he picked up forty-seven feature wins before successfully
tackling the various ranks of dirt racing. Moving to modified and stock four-cylinders
in 1999, Jeremy won fifty-nine races and three track championships over the
next three years. His dirt experience proved beneficial in transitioning the
determined teen to asphalt racing; and

Whereas, in 2002,
Jeremy made his debut in the ARCA series, driving the No. 3 for Broadway Motors
(Ken Appling) at Talladega Superspeedway. Jeremy was one of the youngest
drivers to ever qualify for a NASCAR Nationwide Series event at age eighteen,
racing for Jerry Young at Pikes Peak on July 26, 2003; and

Whereas, on July 24,
2004, Jeremy suffered an injury that threatened his racing career while running
his No. 51 Late Model at 311 Speedway in Madison, North Carolina. He underwent eight
surgeries and months of physical therapy to regain use of his right hand. In
2005, he returned to the dirt track, and, in 2006, he started ten ARCA races with
three top five finishes and one top ten finish; and

Whereas, following
several successful racing years, in 2011, Jeremy transitioned to the Nascar O'Reilly
Auto Parts Series (NOAPS) full time and ran a full season driving the No. 51
for Jeremy Clements Racing; and

Whereas, over the
years, Jeremy has had a successful career involving many notable wins and top
finishes, including his second NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts series win at the
famed Daytona International Speedway in 2022; and

Whereas, Jeremy will
start his five hundred forty-eighth NOAPS race at San Diego this June. He will
surpass the current record holder, Kenny Wallace, who has five hundred
forty-seven; and

Whereas, all of Jeremy's
starts, including Busch, Nationwide, Xfinity, and O'Reilly Auto Parts Series,
have been in a Chevrolet; and

Whereas, Jeremy
currently resides in his hometown of Spartanburg with his wife, Cortney; daughter,
Kennedy; and their dog, Mollie. During the off-season, Jeremy enjoys traveling
and spending time with family and friends; and

Whereas, the members of
the South Carolina Senate greatly appreciate the dedication and commitment that
Jeremy Clements has shown in his sport and look forward to a future of further
accomplishments by the talented athlete. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the
South Carolina Senate, by this resolution,
recognize and honor Jeremy Clements for his success as a NASCAR driver and
commend him for his storied career in racing.

Be it further resolved
that a copy of this resolution be presented to Jeremy Clements.
