A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Katie Blum as Gwinnett County Teacher of the Year; and for1
other purposes.2
WHEREAS, Katie Blum has been recognized as the 2021 Gwinnett County Teacher of the3
Year, selected from over 11,000 Gwinnett County teachers; and4
WHEREAS, Katie Blum is now one of ten finalists for the title of 2023 Georgia Teacher of5
the Year, selected from nearly 120,000 teachers in the State of Georgia; and6
WHEREAS, in her vital role as a second grade teacher at Sugar Hill Elementary School, she7
creates a love of learning and plays an important role in building a strong foundation for8
Georgia's next generation; and9
WHEREAS, Katie strives to empower her students and foster relationships with them and10
between them that will develop confidence in themselves and in their ability to learn and11
succeed; and12
WHEREAS, she creates an atmosphere of kindness and mutual respect while working hard13
to ensure learning remains fun and challenging for her beloved students; and14

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this extraordinary educator be recognized15
appropriately.16
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that17
the members of this body recognize and commend Katie Blum as Gwinnett County Teacher18
of the Year.19
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized20
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Katie21
Blum.22
