SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

110 ILCS 330/11 new

210 ILCS 85/11.11 new

 Amends the Hospital Licensing Act. Provides that, before transporting a patient to a hospital facility, the hospital must inform the patient of the costs associated with transportation to the facility. Provides that a hospital must also conspicuously list on the hospital's publicly accessible website the cost of transporting a patient to a hospital facility. Amends the University of Illinois Hospital Act to require the University of Illinois Hospital to comply with those requirements.

1 AN ACT concerning regulation.

2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 

3represented in the General Assembly:

4 Section 5. The University of Illinois Hospital Act is 

5amended by adding Section 11 as follows:

6 (110 ILCS 330/11 new)

7 Sec. 11. Transportation cost transparency. The University 

8of Illinois Hospital shall comply with Section 11.11 of the 

9Hospital Licensing Act.

10 Section 10. The Hospital Licensing Act is amended by 

11adding Section 11.11 as follows:

12 (210 ILCS 85/11.11 new)

13 Sec. 11.11. Transportation cost transparency. Before 

14transporting a patient to a hospital facility, the hospital 

15must inform the patient of the costs associated with 

16transportation to the facility. A hospital must also 

17conspicuously list on the hospital's publicly accessible 

18website the cost of transporting a patient to a hospital 

19facility.
