WHEREAS,MasjidAliya,alsoknownastheIslamicCenterofStafford,isa  faithorganization
providinga  safeandinspiringplacewheremembersofthelocalMuslimpopulationandlike-minded
individualsmaygatherandpray,aswellasampleopportunitiesforoutreachandservice;and
WHEREAS,theoriginsofMasjidAliyamaybetracedtoa  groupofStaffordlocalswhowere
seekinga  spaceforFridayprayer;afteroutgrowinga  hotelconferenceroomanda  BoyScoutsof
Americameetinglodge,thegroupsoughtitsowndedicatedlocationtoallowitscongregationto
flourish;and
WHEREAS,MasjidAliyawasestablishedinitsowndedicatedspacein2018throughthegenerous
supportofcommunitymembers,particularlyHamidAliKhan,whoaspiredtoestablisha  masjidinthe
nameofhislatewife,Aliya;and
WHEREAS,undertheleadershipofImamSherifShehata,MasjidAliyacurrentlysupportsthe
spiritualgrowthofitsmembersandthewell-beingofthecommunitythrougha  varietyofendeavors,
includinga  foodbank,youthgroup,SundaySchoolprogram,Eidprayers,QuranAcademy,potlucks,
barbecues,anda careerdevelopmentspeakerseries;and
WHEREAS,throughtheunwaveringcommitmentofitsmemberstotheorganization'smissionand
values,MasjidAliyahasmadeameaningfulandlastingimpactontheStaffordcommunity;now,
therefore,beit
RESOLVEDbytheHouseofDelegates,ThatMasjidAliyaherebybecommendedforitsserviceon
theoccasionofitsfifthanniversaryinitsnewdedicatedspace;and,beit
RESOLVEDFURTHER,ThattheClerkoftheHouseofDelegatespreparea  copyofthisresolution
forpresentationtoMasjidAliyaasanexpressionoftheHouseofDelegates'admirationforthemasjid's
historyanditscontributionstotheCommonwealth.
