HR____ COMMENDING LIEUTENANT MIKE HOUSE AS A RECIPIENT OF
THE 2024 ALABAMA LEGISLATIVE MERITORIOUS SERVICE AWARD FOR
LAW ENFORCEMENT.
WHEREAS, it is with highest commendation that we
recognize Jefferson County Deputy Sheriff Lieutenant Mike
House as a recipient of the 2024 Alabama Legislative
Meritorious Service Award for Law Enforcement for his
selfless lifesaving actions beyond his role as a law
enforcement officer; and
WHEREAS, on December 6, 2023, Lieutenant House shared
the gift of life by donating his kidney to Corporal Jerry
Karrh, a Vestavia law enforcement officer that Lt. House had
never met; and
WHEREAS, Corporal Karrh was in dire need of a kidney
when his daughter shared his story on social media; and
WHEREAS, two years earlier, Lt. House decided that he
had been called by God to donate a kidney and he would know
when the time came; he saw the social media post and
underwent testing to determine if he was a match; and
WHEREAS, without the gift of Lt. House's kidney,
Corporal Karrh's condition would have been fatal; the choice
to undergo surgery and gift a kidney is a truly selfless act
deserving of special recognition; now therefore,

deserving of special recognition; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That we hereby honor Jefferson
County Deputy Sheriff Lieutenant Mike House as a recipient
of the 2024 Alabama Legislative Meritorious Service Award
for Law Enforcement, and this resolution is dedicated to him
with our utmost gratitude, admiration, and esteem.
