A house RESOLUTION

To honor and recognize the Heathwood Hall Episcopal
School boys track and field team, coaches, and school officials on an
outstanding season and to congratulate them on winning the 2026 South Carolina
Independent School Association Division I Championship title.

Whereas, the members of
the South Carolina House of Representatives were pleased to hear that the
Heathwood Hall Episcopal School boys track and field team took home top honors
at the South Carolina Independent School Association Division I State Championship
held on May 2, 2026, at Ben Lippen School; and

Whereas, to the delight
of their exuberant fans, the Heathwood Hall Highlanders defeated a fine,
competitive field of teams with a score of 130, besting their nearest opponent,
Wilson Hall, by 14 points, and winning their second consecutive state
championship title; and

Whereas, the
Highlander's had many standout performances at the championship meet. Jack
Wilcox finished first in the 1,600m and 3,200m and came in second in the 800m,
earning most valuable player (MVP) honors for the meet. Teammate Townsley
Rivers finished second in the 100m dash and long jump. Davis Hagstette finished
third in both the 400m hurdles and in the pole vault, and William Goodwin finished
third in the 200m dash. The Highlanders finished second in the 4x400 relay and
third in 4x100 relay; and

Whereas, at the state
championship meet, Highlanders Jack Wilcox, Townsley Rivers, Will Goodwin, KJ
Thomas, Nicholas Iszard, Landon Heuer, and Davis Hagstette made the podium and earned
All-State Honors; and

Whereas, in a sport
that requires endurance, speed, and agility, Head Coach Tony Brown and his
talented coaching staff utilized their own experience and passion for the sport
to craft a championship-caliber team. The lessons that they have taught these
young athletes will continue to prove invaluable beyond the track and field;
and

Whereas, the members of
the South Carolina House of Representatives value the pride and recognition
that the Heathwood Hall Episcopal School boys track and field team have brought
to their school and community, and the members look forward to following their
future achievements in the days to come. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the
South Carolina House of Representatives,
