HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 30
BY REPRESENTATIVE DESHOTEL
A RESOLUTION
To commend the Marksville High School boys' basketball team on winning the Louisiana
High School Athletic Association 2024 Division III Non-Select state championship.
WHEREAS, the Marksville High School Tigers boys' basketball team captured the
2024 Division III Non-Select state title by defeating Red River High School, 67-59, in the
championship game held at Burton Coliseum in Lake Charles, Louisiana; the victory gives
Marksville its first-ever state title in boys' basketball; and
WHEREAS, Tigers senior Zachary Schuler was recognized as the Most Outstanding
Player of the championship after scoring nineteen points and grabbing eight rebounds;
freshman Devin Lavalais contributed a game-high twenty points and twelve rebounds; and
WHEREAS, Marksville coach Alex Perkins and the Tigers players are most
deserving of the highest recognition for their inspiring perseverance throughout this
championship run.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Marksville High School boys' basketball
team on winning the Louisiana High School Athletic Association 2024 Division III Non-
Select state championship and does hereby extend sincerest wishes that the team's coaches
and players continue their excellent work and always strive for greatness.
