A RESOLUTION to honor Evan Goins on being named the
WePlayed Sports South Atlantic Conference
Baseball Player of the Week.

WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this General Assembly should recognize
those incredibly successful student athletes who have distinguished themselves as inspirational
leaders among their peers; and
WHEREAS, Evan Goins, a junior at Tusculum University, has been named the
WePlayed Sports South Atlantic Conference Baseball Player of the Week in recognition of his
outstanding play on the diamond; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Goins impressed everyone, going 8-for-11 with three home runs and
seven RBIs as Tusculum swept the three-game series at UVA Wise; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Goins opened the series with a career game, launching three home
runs in a perfect four-for-four outing and driving in six runs as Tusculum rolled to an 18-4
victory; and
WHEREAS, his three-homer effort ties for the second-most in a single game in
Tusculum history, while his six RBIs rank tied for eighth-most by a Pioneer; and
WHEREAS, Evan Goins followed with another four-hit performance in Tusculum's 13-11
win over the Cavaliers; although he was hit by a pitch at bat, he ended the week with a .750 on-
base percentage and a remarkable 1.545 slugging percentage; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Goins exemplifies the spirit, determination, and perseverance for which
Tennesseans are notable, and he is richly deserving of our approbation on this special
occasion; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH
GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE HOUSE OF

REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING, that we honor Evan Goins on being named the
WePlayed Sports South Atlantic Conference Baseball Player of the Week and wish him much
continued success both on and off the diamond.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared
for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear
without House or Senate designation.
