A house RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE RIDGE VIEW HIGH SCHOOL BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM for WINNING THE 2026 Class AAAAA Division I State Championship and to commend them for their continued excellence and dominance in high school basketball.

Whereas, the Ridge View High School boys basketball team captured the 2026 Class AAAAA Division I State Championship with an impressive 65‑44 victory over Ashley Ridge High School at the Colonial Life Arena in Columbia on Friday, March 6, 2026; and

Whereas, this victory marks the Blazers’ seventh state championship in the past nine years and their third consecutive title, firmly establishing Ridge View as a dominant force in South Carolina high school basketball; and

Whereas, under the outstanding leadership of Head Coach Joshua Staley, the Blazers entered the championship game as the top team in Class AAAAA Division I and fulfilled expectations with discipline, teamwork, and exceptional athletic performance; and

Whereas, the championship game held special significance for Coach Staley, who once played under Coach Brad Dobbels at Hunter‑Kinard‑Tyler High School, and who competed against his former mentor, now the head coach of Ashley Ridge High School; and

Whereas, the Blazers demonstrated remarkable teamwork in the championship game, with DJ Wylie leading the scoring effort with 14 points, R.J. Davis contributing 11 points, and JT Vankallan and Talan Staley each adding 10 points; and

Whereas, the Ridge View High School boys basketball team has brought great pride and recognition to their school, their community, and Richland School District Two through their dedication, perseverance, and championship achievements. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor the Ridge View High School boys basketball team for winning the 2026 Class AAAAA Division I State Championship and commend them for their continued excellence and dominance in high school basketball.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Principal Dr. Brenda Mack-Foxworth and Head Coach Joshua Staley.
