S2322 CRUZ-PEREZ
3

The bill directs the Department of Agriculture, in consultation 1
with the Department of Education, to provide guidance and support 2
to school districts, and to prepare and issue an annual report 3
detailing the annual cost of the incentive fund and the number and 4
percentage of additional students participating in the “breakfast 5
after the bell” program for each school district. 6
The bill specifies that the Legislature is to annually appropriate 7
funds necessary to implement the bill. 8
The purpose of the fund is to provide an incentive to school 9
districts in this State to move to a school breakfast model that has 10
the capacity to reach more hungry students since low to middle 11
income school districts face greater challenges in covering the costs 12
of an effective school breakfast program. 13
