AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF CRANSTON TO ESTABLISH, ADOPT, AND
REAPPORTION THE CITY COUNCIL AND SCHOOL COMMITTEE VOTING WARDS

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:
SECTION 1. In all respects in which amendments to the local voting wards within the city 1
of Cranston, which amendment was adopted and approved by the city council of the city of 2
Cranston on March 28, 2022, may require ratification, confirmation, validation or enactment by the 3
general assembly, but in no other respects, the local reapportionment plan of the local voting wards 4
within the city of Cranston are hereby ratified, confirmed, validated and enacted by the passage of 5
this act. Nothing contained in this act shall be construed to abrogate or impair the powers now or 6
hereafter granted to cities and towns by the Home Rule Amendment and other applicable laws of 7
the State of Rhode Island or those rights retained by said city of Cranston in its home rule charter. 8
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. 9
