WHEREAS, The region's many attractions, including Padre

Island National Seashore, the Texas State Aquarium, the USS

Lexington aircraft carrier, and a variety of youth and amateur

sporting events, provide resources for families to come

together, build lasting memories, and appreciate the natural and

cultural wealth of the area; and

WHEREAS, Corpus Christi is the eighth-largest city in

Texas, and it will soon be home to the state's first

municipally owned seawater desalination facility; The Port of

Corpus Christi is a vital economic engine that brings

opportunity to the Coastal Bend region and supports

significant change and growth for Texas and the nation; and

WHEREAS, Educational institutions including Texas A&M

University--Corpus Christi, Del Mar Community College, Coastal

Bend College, and the Corpus Christi Independent School District

provide access to knowledge and training to prepare students for

the future while fostering an understanding of the important role

they play in the community; and

WHEREAS, The residents of the Coastal Bend work together to

create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all and bring

their shared vision to life through collaboration, community

involvement, and the appreciation of their shared home; now,

 therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
